UT Quality/UT Quality USA servicesServices/Conventional NDT
Four methods carry most day-to-day inspection work: magnetic particle (MT) and liquid penetrant (PT) for surface and near-surface flaws, ultrasonic testing (UT) for wall thickness and subsurface flaws, and visual testing (VT) against the governing code. UT Quality USA runs all four, in the field and in the shop, from the same crews, written practice and reporting as the advanced methods.
On one page because on most jobs they are ordered together.
Surface and near-surface flaw detection on ferromagnetic welds and components: structural steel, pipe racks and supports subject to vibration and thermal cycling, and welded tank seams.
Surface-breaking flaw detection, including on materials MT cannot be used on: austenitic stainless, 9% nickel cryogenic systems and other non-ferromagnetic components.
Manual thickness and flaw detection: wall-thickness surveys on operating pipelines, valve assemblies and station piping, tank floor and shell thickness, and shear-wave inspection of structural and piping welds.
Direct visual inspection by certified technicians: weld profile, surface condition and workmanship against the governing code, on its own or as the first step before a surface or volumetric method.
MT and PT on structural steel, pipe racks and supports in process units, and on skids and module steel.
Floor and shell UT thickness surveys, MT and welded-seam inspection supporting API 653 tank programs; UT and MT on vessel welds, nozzles and internals.
UT wall-thickness surveys and MT/PT on operating pipelines, valve assemblies and station piping supporting integrity management programs.
PT and ultrasonic shear-wave inspection on cryogenic piping, 9% nickel steel and austenitic stainless, with the technique and procedure qualified for the material before work starts.
Alloy verification and analysis, confirming that the material in the line or the component is the material the specification calls for.
Results interpreted and reported against the code your specification names: API 1104, ASME B31, ASME Section V/VIII, API 570 or API 653.
Surface methods find what is on the surface. For a permanent image of the weld volume, or encoded coverage with every A-scan kept, the work moves to radiography or automated ultrasonics.
Magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (PT), ultrasonic testing (UT) and visual testing (VT), plus positive material identification (PMI), alongside radiography and advanced ultrasonics from the same crews.
Yes, together with MT and PT, on operating pipeline systems, valve assemblies and station piping supporting integrity management programs.
Yes. PT and ultrasonic methods are used on cryogenic piping, 9% nickel steel and austenitic stainless, with the technique and procedure qualified for the material before work starts.
Yes. The same mobilization that brings radiography or encoded ultrasonics can bring MT, PT, UT and VT, reported to the same written practice.
Technicians are certified Level I, II and III to our written practice under ASNT SNT-TC-1A / ANSI/ASNT CP-189, with Level III oversight of procedures and interpretation.
