UT Quality/UT Quality USA industriesIndustries/Midstream gathering
Gathering work is many short spreads and many small facilities rather than one long line, and the inspection has to move the same way. UT Quality USA covers gathering and trunk line welding, pad and facility piping and the vessels between them, from the Katy, Texas base.
The scope UT Quality USA crews are asked for on this work.
Girth welds on gathering and trunk lines inspected to API 1104, by radiography or by encoded ultrasonics where the specification allows it.
Inlet, header and utility piping at pads, compression and processing facilities, inspected to the ASME B31 code the specification names.
Shell, head and nozzle welds on separators, treaters and other pressure equipment, inspected to ASME Section VIII.
Tie-in, crossing and repair welds outside the production rhythm, inspected by the method the specification names for that weld.
Automated ultrasonic testing, phased array and TOFD, semi-automated ultrasonics, radiography by film, computed, digital and real-time methods, and the four conventional methods — magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic and visual testing — plus positive material identification. UT Quality’s automated ultrasonic system is proprietary, designed and built in-house.
Inspected and reported to the code your specification names: API 1104 for girth welds, ASME B31.8 for gas and B31.4 for liquid systems, ASME B31.3 for facility process piping, and ASME Section VIII for pressure equipment.
Short spreads and scattered pads reward a contractor who can put a small crew where it is needed and still report to one written practice. The same crews carry radiographic, ultrasonic and conventional capability, so one mobilization covers the line and the facility.
Yes. Gathering line girth welds, pad and facility piping and pressure equipment are all within scope, on the same mobilization where the schedule allows.
It depends on the specification, the wall thickness and the site. Radiography gives a permanent image of the weld volume; encoded ultrasonics gives measured flaw height with the data retained and no exclusion zone.
Usually API 1104 for the girth weld with ASME B31.8 or B31.4 governing the system, and ASME B31.3 for facility process piping. The specification decides.
Crews are staffed to the scope. Contract models are described on the UT Quality USA page.
Technicians are certified Level I, II and III to our written practice under ASNT SNT-TC-1A / ANSI/ASNT CP-189, with Level III oversight of procedures and interpretation. UT Quality USA is a union operation.
Tell us the scope, the material and the governing code, and a UT Quality representative will follow up.
