Public work is judged on the record as much as on the weld. UT Quality USA is a union nondestructive testing contractor registered in SAM.gov, and can be engaged on federal, state and municipal projects — direct or under the prime contractor — within the same USA service scope, written practice and reporting used on every other job.

Girth, tie-in and fabrication welds on gas and liquid pipelines and utility systems, inspected to API 1104 with ASME B31.8 or B31.4 as the governing code for the system in service.
Welded steel transmission mains, treatment and pump station piping, welded tanks and the structural steel around them, inspected by radiography, ultrasonics and the conventional methods.
Structural steel, connections, supports and building services piping on public facilities, inspected by MT, PT, UT and VT to AWS D1.1 and to the ASME B31 code the specification names.
Level III review of procedures, independent re-interpretation of film and digital images, and inspection-record review where an owner wants a second set of eyes on work already performed.
Automated ultrasonic testing, phased array and TOFD, semi-automated ultrasonics, radiography by film, computed, digital and real-time methods, and the four conventional methods — magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, ultrasonic and visual testing — plus positive material identification. UT Quality’s automated ultrasonic system is proprietary, designed and built in-house.
Inspected and reported to the code your specification names: API 1104 for pipeline construction welds with ASME B31.8 or B31.4 for the system in service, AWS D1.1 for structural welds, ASME B31.3 for process piping, B31.1 for power piping and B31.9 for building services piping, ASME Section VIII for pressure equipment, API 650 for welded storage tanks, and ASME Section V for examination. The acceptance criteria are whatever the project specification names.
Public projects are audited, so the reporting matters as much as the call: every report is written to our written practice and to the code the specification names, in a form an owner, an engineer of record or an authorized inspector can review later. Crews are staffed through the union hall from the Katy, Texas base, which suits prevailing-wage and project labor agreement work, and UT Quality USA can be hired direct by the owner or carried under the prime contractor.
UT Quality is registered in SAM.gov and can support federal, state and municipal work within its existing UT Quality USA service scope. Engagement is either direct with the owner or under the prime contractor.
No. UT Quality USA performs and reports the nondestructive examination. We are not a government agency and do not act for one, we are not PHMSA and hold no PHMSA certification, approval or authorization, we are not an authorized inspection agency and hold no code stamp, and we do not determine regulatory compliance.
No. We make no claim to any contract vehicle, schedule, set-aside or socio-economic status. What we offer is the inspection scope, the union crews and the records.
Yes. Our Level IIIs review procedures, re-interpret radiographic film and digital images and audit inspection records independently of the contractor who performed the original work.
Technicians are certified Level I, II and III to our written practice under ASNT SNT-TC-1A / ANSI/ASNT CP-189, with Level III oversight of procedures and interpretation. UT Quality USA is a union operation.
